Integration in the Open BIM workflow
Using the BIMserver.center web platform, all the participants and applications that are part of an integrated project in the Open BIM workflow can communicate directly. This integration is carried outby exchanging IFC information files with a previously defined BIM model:
- Reading a BIM model
BIM models are read from files in IFC format that are generated by CAD/BIM programs such as IFC Builder, Allplan, Archicad or Revit. This function allows Open BIM Cost Estimator to view the building model directly in the application.
- Exporting information in IFC files
Open BIM Cost Estimator exports an IFC file that contains the budget supporting document (.pdf). This way, the BIM model of the project is updated and the Open BIM workflow is consolidated. Other BIM applications, such as Open BIM Memories CTE, can read this information in order to include it in the project.
- Synchronization with the BIM model
Each time there is a modification in the BIM model, the program can incorporate the changes to the Open BIM Cost Estimator project so that users can work in parallel with other specialists from different disciplines.
More information can be found on the Open BIM technology in CYPE programs webpage.
